ROSEGALLERY presents a special presentation of works by Jo Ann Callis and Tania Franco Klein. Two photographers who emerged decades apart, Callis and Klein are both vanguards of photographic practice: Callis, one of the most important practitioners of the “fabricated photographs” movement, emerged in the late 1970s with daring color photographs — all cleverly staged within the confines of her home; Franco Klein, a rising star of the current contemporary art world, installs her cinematic and vivid photographs in innovative, narrative installations. Both artists employ cinematic staging in order to delve into issues of performative self-presentation, anxiety and emotions, and the intricacies of womanhood in their contemporary contexts. Bringing these two artists together for the first time during Paris Photo New York’s debut, ROSEGALLERY’s exhibition will feature vintage Dye Transfer Prints by Jo Ann Callis and a novel photographic installation of works by Tania Franco Klein.
